Freemasonry is a system of morality, veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols: its aim is to make good men better. The rhetoric used in Freemasonry is allegorical and requires an in-depth study in order to understand fully the true meaning of the symbols used to express the underlying philosophy of the Order.
A beautiful system of morality, which reminds us of God's Moral Law, or pattern, which He established for us to follow each day of our lives.
Veiled in allegory: reminds us that the Hidden Mysteries of Freemasonry can only be found and understood when each Mason searches our rituals and the holy writings of his individual faith, in depth, in order to understand more clearly the true secrets of Masonry.
One misconception about Freemasonry is that it is said to be a Secret Society; it is not. We possess secrets, and these are revealed to our members. They are neither subversive nor anti-clerical; they are used only to enable each Mason to improve himself as a human being and to help him to be of service to his fellow creatures. While Masons may share secret modes of recognition, we are very open about what Freemasonry is and what we stand for.
